Well, after multiple training camps and game film, the Turkey Lacrosse Association (TLA) has finally selected the players for the 2014 national team rosters. The TLA decided to have 2 national teams, a senior squad and a developmental squad.
The senior squad will be travelling to Denver for the FIL World Lacrosse Championships in July 2014. The national developmental team will be participating in other tournaments around Europe. The TLA decided to go this route for multiple reasons.
It was decided to have 2 teams so everyone who came out to the training camps can represent the Republic of Turkey in different tournaments next year and beyond. So each player can wear the national team uniform with pride and grow on the international level. TLA believes this will strengthen the program and create more bonds with the players, coaches and country. They want the opportunity for everyone to suit up under the national team uniform and be proud of their accomplishments as indviduals and as a team and more importantly as a national program.
I personally want to thank each player for coming out and doing their best at our training camps. I am proud of each of you and know our coaching staff are as well. Be proud to be the first teams to truly represent the Republic of Turkey in interantional tournaments and World Games!!
