Ismail “Ezee” Bilgin appointed as Managing Director of Developmnet for the Turkey Lacrosse Association

Ezee has always done whatever it takes to help Turkey Lacrosse.  He has been with the team since the beginning. He was in Bulgaria when Turkey Lacrosse won the Sofia Lacrosse Cup in 2011. Now, Turkey Lacrosse is proud to appoint Ismail “Ezee” Bilgi as its Managing Director of Development.

Ezee is the first non-American to join the staff of Turkey Lacrosse. A native Turk who resides and plays lacrosse in Switzerland, Ezee is perfectly suited for his role as Managing Director of Development. He will be instrumental in helping spread the word of Turkey Lacrosse in the rest of Europe. More than that, he wants to reach Turkey in the areas where, thus far, Turkey Lacrosse has been unsuccessful.

“I really want to bring the sport of lacrosse to the colleges and universities in Turkey,” says Ezee. “I want to show people that even though lacrosse is a physical game it can be a very fair game, too.” Turkey Lacrosse’s main participants up to this point have been mostly Turks between the ages of 15 and 18, and they hope that with Ezee’s help they will be able to bring the sport to the Turkish universities.

“I’m very excited to go to a meeting where somebody isn’t translating for me, “ says Founder and Executive Director of Turkey Lacrosse, Patrick Dougherty. “Also, having a native Turk speaking with our audience will be much better received. If you speak to a man in a language that he has learned, he will understand you. But if you speak to a man in his native tongue, you reach his heart.”

Turkey Lacrosse has high hopes as it prepares for the 2014 World Games in Denver, Colorado. They are hard at work putting together a team of Turks from all over the world so that they can show up next summer and make a name for themselves in the lacrosse world. In less than a month, Turkey Lacrosse will host the Turkey Lacrosse Open in the southern coastal city of Alanya. Dougherty has been hard at work securing the support of the municipality, and so far these benefits include 20% discounts on drink for participants for the entire week, fireworks, sponsorship by Red Bull, and more.
